Introduction to Creative Yoga Sequencing with Somatics

Somatics is a field of study that can be defined as how the mind and body are perceived from within to self-correct and heal. It can be utilized as a way to reduce pain, enhance body awareness, and prepare the body for challenging yoga poses while also promoting downregulation of the nervous system. This presentation will provide an introduction to somatics and how it can be incorporated into a yoga class or personal practice. Learning outcomes 1. An overview of somatics principles and definitions 2. An introduction to the science behind somatic movement and how it relates to training your nervous system and brain 3. Physical explorations of somatic sequences
