Your traditional approach to sport preparation focuses on a number skills that don’t necessarily transfer to performance in the chaotic sporting environment. For starters, a typical training program will develop an athlete’s speed and agility independent of one another. It will concentrate on physical and biomechanical development, leaving out the importance of psychological and sensory input training. With a one-size-fits- all technical model, there will be minimal variability and creativity required of the athletes, which will not produce the adaptable problem solvers needed to excel in competition.
