Writing about climbing and health is a huge part of why I love what I do. I've written articles for blogs and magazines. My new book Peak Nutrition co-authored by James Beard Award-Winning Chef Maria Hines is the bible for nutrition science and delicious recipes. I've also written a book all about the best bodyweight training for outdoor athletes: Simple Strength.
ATHLETE
Integrity as a coach, I place a lot of value in practicing what I preach. I am a practitioner first and foremost, then a coach. I still compete in climbing, and love to go outside and crush some hard boulders. I train myself like I train my athletes, with movement training, lifting, practice drills, and good nutrition.
My athletic history includes being a national level competitor in bouldering and an amateur professional tennis player.
COACH
I have personally coached thousands of clients of all abilities, from recreational to pro level competition climbers. The goal for me as a coach is to guide each individual toward their longterm goals, doing this from many angles and focusing on intentional practice.
EDUCATION
I am an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and have a Master's in Human Movement. I love to learn and stay current with the research and continuing education in health, fitness, and climbing.
