Movement improvisation and somatic exploration across the biomes of North America.
Lake. Forest. Tundra. Swamp. Grasslands. River. Stephanie has spent over a year living and improvising in the various natural biomes of North America exploring directly with land. In this presentation she will discuss Nature as an active and animate partner in the creative process as well as how aesthetic insights emerge through somatic experiences with Nature. Possible conversation topics include: improvisation as emerging myths; somatic experiences of place, time and memory; found art/wild art; as well as explorations in emptiness, constant motion and liminal spaces. We will discuss the differences of each biome as well as how movement improvisation can be a method of embodiment, particularly in Nature. Videodances which were filmed on location will be presented.
