The absence of empathy underscores hate, cruelty and violence of all kinds. The Roots of Empathy program teaches primary school children, on three continents, a universal literacy—emotional literacy. They are living in an emotional illiterate world. Emotional literacy is the affective component of empathy. The leaders of tomorrow are sitting in the classrooms of today. With emotional literacy and empathy, they can lead us into more peaceful, caring and civil societies. Empathy is our best peace pill and the ultimate human trait.
