Birds of Freedom: Yoga's Multi-Dimensional Model of Embodiment

Intermediate understanding
Movement not required

Yoga as a practice in life, as well as on the mat and cushion, is the expression of an ancient anatomy from the Taittirīya Upaniṣad that says the human system is composed of 5 interconnected birds (each with 5 parts). This Holistic model explains the relationship between body, breath/energy, mind, personality and emotions, and how working on one dimension will necessarily impact the functioning of the others. Thus it is a map for applying Yoga tools and practice to transform almost any aspect of the person’s system. Learning outcomes 1. Learn how body, breath mind, personality and emotion are interconnected and inseparable 2. Understand the role of traditional Indian anatomies as 'practice maps' 3. Know the 25 different elements in Yoga's presentation of the Holistic Human System
