How Next 10 Years of Technological Development Will Determine Human Wellbeing for this Century (An Integral Response)
A growing consensus across disciplines is revealing that most of our information technology habits hinder, harm or suppress our wellbeing. In fact, The Center for Humane Technology recognizes that the main drives of IT usage are founded in both shallow and deep addiction mechanisms. The genie cannot be put back in the bottle, so perhaps the only way out of this growing epidemic is to move through it. Applying Integral 2.0, I take my decades of technology and cognitive science studies, along with mass surveys of embodiment arts, and project a vision of an Integral reality rooted in Transformational Futurism in conjunction with the emerging use of Augmented and Spatial web realities. The future can look and feel radically more balanced, integrated and embodied as we advance human factors psychology into user-interface design (iUX) that applies integral realism in an immersive, multidimensional sense as members of a growing embodiment community. We can displace our current cultures of partial technological engineering with far more intelligently and humanely conceived tools for communicating, learning, working, engaging media and finding meaning in our increasingly chaotic information society.
