"The art of the clown consists of freeing ourselves from all roles except one: Our one" A. Simon In this one hour journey we will: Explore deep contact with ourselves and others through breathing, attention and reaction Open to the big pleasure to be in the moment, seeing and being seen Celebrate our fallible body as the main gateway for spontaneity, authenticity and meaning Reveal and follow impulses and emotions and their role in tension release and laughter Confirm the importance of having a clear frame/setting of trust as a pre-condition for both vulnerability and fun Reflect about the role and position of the clown in learning, healing and play - the need to reconnect to the flow The Clown is a role present in human groups since pre-historic times. It’s functions have always been that of reconnecting the tribe to the present moment, offering new perspectives by breaking the norm, re-adapting to change, accepting risk and exploration, releasing tension and strengthening bonds between tribe members. We have the need for this role now as much as we did then. The clown activates our ability to be simple, truthful and more invested in real relationships rather than in narcissistic images. It also guides into a state of playful experimentation where change and transformation are not only possible but necessary. In short, in reminds of of our humanity. To be a clown isn’t necessarily taking it as a life path, it can also mean embodying the qualities that allow us and the people around us to live a better life, in lightness and joy. Also, these qualities can be sought for and developed. That’s my job - creating spaces where professional clowns and basically anybody dedicated to living a better and more meaningful life. We dive in exercises and games of embodied playfulness, connection and empathy, risk and surprise, creativity and abandonment. In the last months we had to transpose much of this work to the harsh online environment. And this is what I will share with you during this hour.
