Per Erez
Director First Person Healing Arts, Yoga Teacher & Therapist, Tai Chi, somatic educator, Butoh dance
https://www.bareessentialsyoga.com/Per Erez is a 30-year practitioner of the Yogic arts, with the last twenty years dedicated to somatic education in a spectrum of embodied professional practices, which include: Integrative Yoga Therapy, Tai Chi Chi’h (TCC), Nosara Pranassage, Ayurveda, Tantra, and facilitated somatic table work, amongst others. His formal training in Somatic Education included a year-long professional training in Somatic Yoga followed by a continued three-year-long additional commitment with Dr. Eleanor Criswell at the Novato Institute in Hanna Clinical Somatic Education. The program's conclusion is January 2021 in California.
In addition to consciousness-based movement practices, Per has experience guiding meditation practices that create space for observing the movement of thoughts. These practices increase the capacity for authentic relating to self, others, and the world at large by verbalizing the inner experience of thinking without judgment or analysis.
He has an educational background in the Humanities, specifically focusing on Communications and Theatre Arts. Some of his former teachers include Hanna Hedricks, Steven Cope, Russill Paul, Dr. Rudy Ballentine, Amba & Don Stapleton, and Joseph & Lillian LePage, amongst others.
Most recently, his evolution in wellness & spirituality has included deep exploration in the Japanese dance form, Butoh. Butoh emphasizes experiential movement and intuition, demanding creative “embodied play” that meets the intellectual realms secondarily. His artistic Butoh experience, as a teacher, as well as a recent turn towards semi-professional dance, is a direct out-cropping of his theatre performance background in undergraduate education.
