Exploring & facilitating ways people can access physical ease, increased functionality and grace has been an ongoing investigation. She’s studied Ortho-Bionomy with Advanced Instructors including Bruce Stark for 10 years. Ortho-Bionomy was developed in the 1970s by British osteopath & black belt judo Instructor, Arthur Lincoln Pauls. Based in part on osteopathic principles, the focus is to facilitate the body’s natural self-healing and self-regulating responses. Comfortable positioning techniques are used to support the body's ability to self-correct and realign. The body is reminded to re-organise into more functional ways of being. To complement the benefits of Fiona's hands-on bodywork she teaches self-care techniques, positions & movements based on osteopathic & martial arts principles, yoga therapy, qigong & contemporary dance. Other movement influences & experiences include butoh (Min Tanaka’s Body Weather), contemporary dance (including Contact Improvisation, Hawkins and Body-Mind Centering), Ka Huna massage, and 19 years of qigong & mindfulness meditation (Thai Forest & Mahasi).
