Liora Bresler is a Professor Emerita at the University of Illinois, Champaign (College of Education and College of Fine and Applied Arts), specializing qualitative research methodologies; academic educational entrepreneurship; and arts education. She has authored and edited ten books and 17 special issues on the arts in education, including Knowing Bodies, Moving Minds (Kluwer, 2004); the International Handbook of Research in Arts Education (2007, Springer); and the co-edited International Handbook of Creative Learning (Routeledge, 2011). Bresler has published 150+ papers and book chapters in the leading journals of education, music and arts education. She has given keynote speeches, invited talks, seminars and short courses in thirty some countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and the Americas. Her work was translated to German, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Hebrew, Lithuanian, Finnish, Korean, and Chinese. Teaching awards include the University of Illinois Campus Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching (2005), and Excellence in Mentoring (2018). Other awards include Distinguished Fellow in the National Art Education Association (2010); and the 2019 SEMPRE Lifetime Achievement Award.
