John M. Zelenski is a Professor of Psychology and directs the Carleton University Happiness Laboratory (CUHL) in Ottawa, Canada. He studies individual differences in happiness and how these unfold as momentary thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Recent work has focused on two areas: the causes and consequences of social behavior, particularly in relation to the personality trait of introversion-extraversion, and the links among nature, people’s sense of connection to nature (nature relatedness), happiness, and environmentally sustainable behavior. He educates via courses on personality, methods, and positive psychology at Carleton and around the world (literally) with Semester at Sea, and via a positive psychology textbook recently published by Sage.
